Singin’ In The Rain

London Oratory

Singin in the Rain 14 - 18 February 2023
John McIntosh Arts Centre at The London Oratory School, SW6 1QA

1920s Hollywood...

Lina Lamont and Don Lockwood are Monumental Pictures biggest romantic stars - and a rumoured couple themselves. But when their latest film is to be shot as a musical, only Don has the voice for the new singing part. Lina’s less than dulcet tones cause consternation for studio bosses. With the help of his friend Cosmo Brown and aspiring actress Kathy Seldon, can Don come up with a plan that will ensure the success of the movie? Or will Lina’s determination to make the leap into talking pictures on her own terms ruin their best-laid plans?

This production may take us to the waning days of the silent screen but it remains all-singing and all-dancing. It is closely adapted from Betty Comden and Adolph Green's original screenplay, for the much-loved 1952 film which starred Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor and Gene Kelly - the movie's co choreographer – whose own dance routines are nothing short of iconic.

Singin' in the Rain features the classic song by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed as well as Make 'Em Laugh, All I Do is Dream of You, Good Morning and more.
